The Grapes Our vineyards are grown using a philosophy of minimal intervention and fertilized with natural compost produced on the farm. The best blocks of each varietal at Alvi’s Drift are meticulously managed to optimize quality. These Chenin Blanc and Chardonnay grapes were selectively hand harvested in the cool of the early morning to minimize oxidation. Only healthy, ripe bunches were used for production.
In The Cellar Only the free run and light pressed juice was used in the production of this fruity and complex blend. Highly clarified juice was coldly fermented to maximize flavor retention.
The Wine Light straw in color, Chenin blanc Chardonnay is full bodied and ripe yet elegant.
The Chenin gives ripe nectarine characters while the Chardonnay, which is lightly oaked, gives more peach, melon and vanillin oak characters. This is very much a fruit dominated wine.
The acid is well integrated and balanced resulting in a palate that shows great length and fullness for a lightly wooded wine. Primary fruit flavors of white peaches and nectarine dominate the nose and palate. The resulting wine shows a rare combination of intense aromas, complexity, and length. Compliments fish, salads, and white meat dishes. Analysis RS-5.2 Alc-13.58 % TA-6.8 pH-2.99
